A dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components (usually black) that are attached to a printed circuit board (usually green). The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a socket on a larger printed circuit board. The pins on the front and back of a DIMM are not connected to each other.
184-pin DIMMs are used to provide DDR SDRAM memory for desktop computers. Standard 184-pin DIMMs are available in PC1600 DDR SDRAM, PC2100 DDR SDRAM, PC2700 DDR SDRAM, and PC3200 DDR SDRAM.
To use DDR memory, your system motherboard must have 184-pin DIMM slots and a DDR-enabled chipset. A DDR SDRAM DIMM will not fit into a standard SDRAM DIMM socket. (Information about which memory technology your system uses is included in the Crucial Memory Advisor™ tool.)
The number of black components on a 184-pin DIMM can vary, but it always has 92 pins on the front and 92 pins on the back, for a total of 184. 184-pin DIMMs are approximately 5.25 inches long and 1.25 inches high, though the heights can vary. While 184-pin DIMMs and 168-pin DIMMs are approximately the same size, 184-pin DIMMs have only one notch within the row of pins.

I have looked in to the ASRock 775Dual-VSTA system and we recommend that the maximum memory it can take is 2GB in total. That's 2x1GB modules.
You said that you currently have 3GB of memory installed. Sometimes you can go above the manufacturers recommendation but there is no guarantee that your system would work with 4GB installed.
I would be more than happy to recommend a single 2GB module for you. What I would need first would be some details about your existing 2GB module. This is so I can match it as much as possible when recommending memory.
On the existing memory module there will be a sticker that gives you details about the speed of the memory module. It will say something like "PC2-6400". Can you confirm what it says?
Once I have that information I can look at recommending memory that matches the speed of your existing memory. However, as we don't advise this system can support 4GB I cannot guarantee that it will work. All our memory does come with a lifetime warranty and also a 45 day return period.

This part is basic Crucial PC3-12800 RAM. It's going to be the slower upgrade for your system, but would still be a great upgrade for your system.
This memory is basic Crucial PC3-14900 RAM. This is going to be the fastest upgrade for your system.
This part is Ballistix Sport. It has the same speed as the Crucial PC3-12800 RAM, but has an added heat spreader. Our Ballistix line is made for those are heavy computer users, gamers, graphic designers, etc.
This is the Ballistix Sport version of PC3-14900 RAM.
