How to Find Your Firmware Revision for Windows®

To find out which firmware revision your SSD is running, follow these steps:

Windows 7 and earlier:

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. Open Control panel> System> Hardware
  3. Select Device Manager
  4. Expand Disk drives
  5. Right-click on the drive and select Properties
  6. Select the Details tab and select Hardware lds from the drop down menu. The firmware version will be displayed on the far right.

In Windows 8:

  1. Click on Desktop
  2. Move the mouse cursor to the upper right corner, then down to click Settings
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Select Device Manager
  5. Expand Disk drives
  6. Right-click on the SSD and select Properties
  7. Select the Details tab and then select Hardware lds from the drop down menu. The firmware version will be displayed on the far right.

In Windows 10:

  1. Right-click on your start button then select Device Manager from the pop up menu.
  2. Expand Disk Drives
  3. Right-click on the SSD and select Properties
  4. Select the Details tab then select Hardware lds from the drop down menu.
  5. The firmware revision will be listed at the end of the SSD part number on the top line.

The property fields in Device manager may cut off characters if too many are present with both the SSD part number and firmware revision displayed. For example, an MX500 running firmware revision M3CR023 will appear as "CT500MX500SSD1M3CR."

An alternative to Device Manager is to check the firmware revision installed on the SSD by downloading our free Storage Executive software (compatible with Windows 7 and newer versions and supports Crucial MX-series, BX-series, M550, and M500 SSDs).
